Pre-trip cheat sheet

This is the stripped-down version for the group. Open this page at the airport, at the hotel, and on embarkation morning.

Priority before leaving home

  • Passport, ID, cruise docs, meds, phone charger stay on your person
  • Do not attach ship luggage tags until embarkation day
  • Pack a small embarkation bag for the ship
  • Have small bills ready for porters and shuttle tips
  • Download the Royal Caribbean app and Southwest app

Verify these two items

  • Re-check the latest Southwest flights in the app because some uploaded docs conflict
  • Confirm the selected port arrival window / check-in appointment before leaving the hotel

Fri Mar 20 - Very early

Airport / parking run

  • Airpark vehicle drop was planned for around 3:00 AM
  • Unload fast, lock up, stay with the vehicle for shuttle pickup
  • Keep all critical items in backpack or personal item, not in rolling carry-on
Fri Mar 20 - Flight day

PDX to Fort Lauderdale

  • Outbound plan is Portland to Chicago Midway, then Chicago Midway to Fort Lauderdale
  • Use the airline app as the final authority for flight number, gate, and time
  • Checked bag target: keep under 50 lb
Fri Mar 20 - Afternoon / evening

Hotel night in Fort Lauderdale

  • Take shuttle from airport to Embassy Suites Fort Lauderdale - 17th Street area
  • Evening reception was planned in the lobby
  • Dinner plan: meet the Cookstons somewhere walkable from the hotel
  • Florida is 3 hours ahead of Portland

Boarding day rules that matter

  • One sealed 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne per drinking-age guest on embarkation day
  • Non-alcoholic drinks are limited to 12 standard 17 oz cans, bottles, or cartons per stateroom, carried on
  • Do not pack valuables or travel documents in checked luggage
  • Stateroom access may not be immediate, so assume your checked bags can arrive later
  • Bring a final-night overnight bag because luggage is typically collected before disembarkation
